I had a fantastic week in Cantabria with Nuria and my fellow travellers. It was a great opportunity to practise and improve my Spanish while experiencing the wonderful sights, sounds and tastes of Cantabria.

Nuria’s organisation of the week was faultless and she took care to ensure that everyone’s needs were being met. She was warm, helpful and encouraging as we chatted in Spanish throughout the week. The wide range of activities and sightseeing trips provided ample scope to extend our vocabulary and there were many opportunities to listen and chat to other native Spanish speakers.

I can highly recommend Nuria’s Viajes de inmersión. I wouldn’t hesitate to join her for another Spanish immersion experience.

Nuria es una organizadora excepcional, y cada día nos ofrecía experiencias diferentes. También es una excelente profesora y mentora, que nos guiaba suavemente hacia la confianza en el español. Todos en el grupo eran amigables y compartían la misma motivación. Entonces hablábamos español juntos en todo momento. ¡Después de dos días mi cerebro empezó a funcionar en español! A veces era agotador, pero siempre divertido.

Durante nuestra estancia conocimos y hablamos con libreros, un fotógrafo de prensa, una experta en caligrafía, una experta en la historia de la región y un encuadernador de libros y manuscritos.

El alojamiento fue excelente. Cada estudiante tenía una habitación con baño en la misma hermosa casa.

June 2025. Immersion trip in Cantabria. This was the second time that I have undertaken a week of Spanish Immersion with Nuria of Libera Tú Español. Again, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Nuria thinks of everything and the activities that she arranged were diverse – from simple coastal walks to historic sites and all sorts in between. Everything is flexible to take into account weather and personal preferences. The information and exercise sheets (more ‘food for thought’ than traditional exercises) were creative and really useful in helping me think about things a little differently and in developing my use of Spanish. I really felt my grasp and use of the language take off from day one. As well as the planned encounters I spoke to many ‘random’ people in my free time and everyone was without fail patient and interested.
The Bahía de Santander area is beautiful and Somo is really well situated as a base from which to explore. If you’re up for a challenge and want to improve your Spanish I highly recommend spending some time immersed in the language and culture.
Nuria is an incredibly patient, kind, understanding, encouraging and fun teacher and guide.

Acabo de terminar una semana inolvidable en la preciosa villa de Urueña con Nuria, una profesora excepcional en muchos sentidos. Ella es muy profesional y conocedora de una multitud de experiencias mundiales, y tiene una personalidad maravillosa, siempre lista y dispuesta a ayudar a sus alumnos.

La semana consistió en aprender vocabulario y expresiones nuevas en contexto mientras visitábamos museos, librerías, restaurantes y un taller de encuadernación. Además, tuvimos una lección de caligrafía y comimos con una señora nativa en su casa. Había algo nuevo cada día, nuevas actividades o experiencias de aprendizaje donde podíamos practicar nuestro español.

La semana cultural en Urueña fue perfecta y todo salió bien sin ningún problema. Cuando no se encuentran problemas y cuando todo funciona bien, sabe que detrás de escena ha habido mucha planificación y organización, gracias a Nuria.

No sé cómo se podría mejorar esta experiencia. La semana en Urueña superó mis expectativas y fue una de las mejores experiencias lingüistas que he tenido. Sea cual sea la experiencia cultural que decidas emprender con Nuria, nunca te decepcionarás.
